To promote love, compassion and healing through projects focused on the teachings

of sacred sexuality, for the expansion of connection, intimacy and healthy sexuality.

Sensual Wisdom is a resource for spiritually oriented couples and singles of any orientation who wish to enhance their relationship and compassionate communication skills and deepen intimacy in their lives.

My work includes intimacy consulting, spiritual guidance and sexual healing. I work with various forms of sexual dysfunction, and do energy work with the chakra system, with a focus on the lower centers. I guide my clients toward healthy awareness of their values and ethics, preparing them for deeper levels of healing in the realm of sex, relationship and intimacy.

Our modalities for healing may include essential oils, flower essences, hands-on energy work, deep listening, and belief-change work (NLP). If you are single, we will look at what is preventing you from attracting a lover or partner. If you are in partnership, we will explore ways to deepen the connection and closeness through techniques found in various traditions of sacred sexuality. My highest intention in my work is that you experience absolute safety and feel honored as we work together in this most precious and intimate realm of healing.

Spiritual Mentorship

I am an ordained minister with Universal Life Church and with the Universal Ethician Church. I received the fifth initiation in Eckankar in 1996, which is the priesthood level, although I am no longer associated with the outer teachings. I consider myself non-denominational in orientation, and a Christian mystic.

What may also qualify me to assist you in your path of spiritual awakening is my own dedication, in 1976, to fall in love with everyone I met and learn to live from heart-centered, unconditional love, for my self first, and then for others. I believe that this is the only way we end our karmic entanglements and move beyond the baser instincts of being human. I was diagnosed schizophrenic that same year, and know now that what I was actually experiencing was a spiritual crisis. I've since learned that it is possible to be a lover in a world that seems to contradict love.

I was born into the perfect family for inspiration to seek love, as no one around me knew how to express compassion or caring. There was violence and sexual wounding on both sides of my family, especially in my mother's lineage. My own path of healing includes twelve years as a prostitute, recovery from mental illness, marriage to an alcoholic, and coping with the violent deaths of family members. I have cultivated the intuitive gifts that were repressed in me as a child, and have done change work with hundreds of people over twenty five years of private practice. In 1997 my cousin on my mother's side murdered her nine-year old son and then killed herself. I spent several years in mourning, learning to be present for others in the midst of dealing with violent death. I have attended a number of deaths, having facilitated a support group for people with AIDS in the early years of that horrific disease, and as a volunteer chaplain. I have taught spirituality in prisons and jails.

I began spiritual studies at age 12, when I realized that conventional Christianity was not working for me. I discovered the concepts of reincarnation and karma at that age, and started to study what I could find of Eastern religion. I do not follow any one path or teacher. I believe that all paths lead to the same destination: union with Source. This means different things to different people, and I've come to feel that each person has a unique and precious relationship with God. No one is an outer authority on anyone's inner work.

I offer spiritual advisement only to share frames and possibilities that are generally outside structured religions. If we choose to work together with a focus on your spiritual journey, I will ask you some tough questions:

How do crisis and chaos promote evolution?
What is your spiritual practice, and how often do you engage it?
How do you pray?
What do you expect to receive from prayer?
What is your motivation for spiritual investigation?
What do you expect to have happen as you walk your spiritual path?

I may recommend some reading and will also encourage you to journal your dreams, waking awarenesses and feelings.

Intimacy Consultations

I began my formal studies in sacred sexuality in 2000, and prior to that had lived a life full of sexual investigation, adventuring and discovery. I was fortunate to be in my 20s for that little glimmer of time, after The Pill and before AIDS. We called it 'sexual liberation,' although my generation had much confusion about sex and love (we still do!). What I offer in my consultations is a wealth of information about functionality for both men and women, and the techniques and perspectives of various traditions of sacred sexuality. Everybody loves sex, but most of us are terrified of intimacy, and have no idea how to cultivate rich, deep connection with our partners. Our cultural images of sex are mostly pornographic. How do we learn what healthy sex looks like? What is appropriate pacing in developing an intimate connection with someone? How do you keep sexual interest alive in a long-term relationship? These are the things that we explore. I also specialize in aging concerns, such as low libido, male functionality, and how to enter back into dating and sexual exchange after a time of celibacy.

Sexual Healing

I've come to believe that even the most horrible sexual experiences can be moved beyond and healthy sexual expression can be learned. In my sexual healing sessions, I may access some shamanic techniques and energy work. We focus on the lower chakras and remove energetic limitations that have been installed by sexual shame and guilt and previous negative sexual experiences. We will address beliefs that you may hold about your body, or the opposite gender, and we'll clear old hurts from your heart, so that you move into your next relationship, or enhance the one you are in, without the baggage from the past.

The rate for private sessions, both in person and by telephone, is $120 per hour.
I suggest a two hour appointment ($240) for our first time together.
Follow up sessions are 1 hour and 20 minutes long ($160).
Couples sessions are a minimum of two hours ($240).

Payment is made in advance by bank draft or credit card via PayPal.
Sessions are by appointment and openings are available weekdays, evenings and some weekends.
24 hour notice of cancellation is required and a $50 cancellation fee is retained.

FAQs

Q. How do I start?
A. Please complete the intake questionnaire and e-mail it to me. When I have received it, I'll contact you to schedule a free, 20 minute conversation to answer any further questions either of us have. We'll schedule your first session at that time. Phone communication is required prior to our first meeting.

Q. What will our first session be like?
A. I'll present an overview of what's possible in our work together, and we'll discuss your personal goals. Each session is custom designed to address 'what's up' and for the highest use of our time together. I'll teach you a foundational breathing technique and we'll practice it together. Homework is often assigned.

Q. Do you watch couples have sex and rate their performance?
A. No. However, I am able to articulate explicit suggestions for improvement, in a respectful way, with honoring language.

Q. Do you work naked?
A. My client(s) and I are fully clothed for our sessions.

Q. Do you engage in sex with your clients?
A. No. In our initial time together, and at the beginning of every session, we discuss appropriate boundaries and state our intentions for our time together. We lay a foundation of clear understanding, safety and mutual respect, so that we can both be comfortable with our work together. My intention is to educate and assist in cultivating awareness and healing. I do not provide sexual services, or erotic massage.

Q. How often should I plan to come for sessions?
A. Once our work together begins, it's important to maintain regular sessions for a period of time. I recommend we meet weekly for 4 weeks, then every other week for a while. We will be stirring things up, and I want to support you in this process of healing and expansion.

Q. What should I expect in our sessions, as we advance?
A. We start with inquiry: What's working and what is not working? How did the homework go? What awareness has arisen since we last met? How are things changing in your relationships? We then typically do some breath review and practice together. I will share ways to enhance touch and communication skills and we can practice those. I will offer constructive feedback and positive reinforcement, which leads to skill enhancement and more confidence in your capacity to be a lover. Using various modalities, we continue to discover and release blocks you may have to experiencing deep intimacy.

Q. What do you mean by sacred ceremony?
A. We may create conscious intention through the use of ceremony around making amends, clearing past trauma and drama, and celebrating sensuality. We can custom-design a rite-of-passage ceremony to move you easily away from old habits and beliefs that no longer serve, and into new possibilities in your life. Ceremony is especially helpful after a relationship has failed, or other losses are experienced.
